I wanted to know what happens after those who signed up for reccurring donations are done paying.

When a donor finishes a payment as a recurring donor, they will be taken to your thank you page, and then receive the emails you have set up to go out. Then, depending on what interval they selected, there is monthly or annually as options, it will continue charging on that interval until either they cancel the subscription or their credit card expires. At which point they would have to re-create a new recurring donation on a new card if they wish to continue donating.
